This wedding video is very special. They all are, but this one in particular was unique.
Melanie and Dan got engaged on October 27, 2012; you can see the engagement video and all the love and preparation that went into it. The couple began planning their dream wedding shortly after setting the date for September 1, 2013. We were flattered and thrilled that they wanted Jamie and I to film their wedding. However, sometimes life doesn’t work out exactly how we think it might. In late May, just months before the wedding, Dan was diagnosed with cancer. It is my understanding that during this time the couple saw several doctors, endured testing and more testing all the while planning the wedding they hoped they could have. As Dan mentions in the video, as they were dealing with the cancer they had a notion to get married before the treatments began. That decision was not arrived at without thought, prayer, and deliberation. Melanie and Dan decided to get married just two months ahead of schedule; days before Dan would undergo his first surgery. The couple opted for a small backyard marriage with only close friends and family.
The first I heard of all this was just one month before the wedding we were scheduled to shoot. You can imagine my surprise and concern. Dan informed me that he was doing well, though very weak. He also told me that they were planning on going ahead with the September 1 celebration; though it would no longer be a wedding technically speaking. In his always good-natured way Dan joked that it would be, “the quickest vow renewal” in history. What you see here in this video is that celebration. A celebration of the love that Melanie and Dan share and a celebration of life, happiness, and the last CT Scan showing no signs of cancer.
Jamie and I are so glad we could be a part of their special day.
We hope we were able to capture and authentically tell their wedding day love-story.
That was sooooo awesome! We just finished playing it again as we speak! We’ve had countless people over and they all wanted to see the video. Probably showed at least 70 people at our house already. They are all saying how they want you guys to do their weddings as well, so don’t retire just yet haha. We honestly love it so much!! It is by far the best I’ve ever seen. You don’t even have to ask Melanie how she liked it. I bought a new blu ray player and it’s probably going to be needing replaced soon as a testament of how many times she’s played it. We want you two to do every wedding video so we can keep watching your work. You and Jaime are both phenomenal and I’m so happy you two are in our lives. Thank you so much for the amazing work and the effort you put into it!! -Bride and Groom
